BASE BORDEN - GUIDE FOR SPREADING OF ASHES

Many members of the Corps have expressed a wish to have their ashes spread at the site of the Corps Memorial in Waggoners Park. The following is the procedure to be followed for members of the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps:

Procedure

1. A request that ashes be spread at Waggoners Park will be directed to the Director, Base Borden Military Museum, Canadian Forces Base Borden, 18 Waterloo Road East, P.O. Box 1000, Station Main, Borden, Ontario L0M 1C0.

2. The following information will be required prior to approval (link to a printable Application form at item 4 below):
  a. name, address and telephone number of the person making the enquiry;
  b. name of deceased person, rank on retirement, regimental number, regimental affiliation or classification, date of enrolment and date of retirement, and decorations;
  c. preferred date for disposal of ashes (if date is unspecified, a suitable date may be selected by CFB Borden) and;
  d. name of person who will be delivering the ashes (OPI/contact person).

3. Upon approval by the appropriate authority the applicant will be notified.

4. The Application form [attached ~ click here] should be printed and used to apply.

5. If desired, members may arrange in advance for the scattering of ashes by prepaying the charge of $210. For this purpose, the attached form should be used by stating in item 14 "PREPAYMENT".
